alan-headshotI have decided to post my comments and thoughts on the world around me here for all to see, but mostly for those that know me (my beautiful wife, brilliant daughter, and of course my mom and little sis).

My professional bio goes something like this…

Alan is an entrepreneur and business strategist. He began his career by founding two companies and has since worked with companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 in the areas of innovation, strategy and marketing.

Currently, Alan is a partner with Keen Strategy, a marketing and brand consultancy. Alan has worked in the financial services, healthcare, internet, life sciences, manufacturing, media and publishing, technology, telecommunications, and travel industries. He has led projects that cover innovation, growth strategy, new product and service development, new business model creation,  corporate and local marketing alignment, marketing and organizational performance, customer loyalty and engagement, service marketing, channel assessments and due diligence to name a few.

Before Keen, Alan was Chief Strategy Officer and Vice President of Global Marketing for WomanCare Global, a life sciences firm, responsible for growth strategies including M&A, licensing, partnership, brand building, fundraising and investor relations. Prior to WomanCare, Alan spent five years as an engagement leader at CMG Partners, a strategic marketing consultancy, helping to start the marketing performance practice and later lead the marketing strategy practice.  Prior to CMG Partners, Alan developed product strategies for Dell laptop computers and peripherals. Prior to Dell, he launched a vertical marketing strategy, re-engineered service offerings and pricing, and developed innovative strategies and approaches to enhance business performance at Bell & Howell, a leading provider of high-performance document management solutions and services. Alan began his career by launching two start-ups – an indoor-billboard advertising company and a marketing services firm.

His clients have included Blue Cross Blues Shield of NCSirius|XM, Eaton, Sprint Nextel, State Farm Mutual InsuranceLS Holding, Quintiles, Böwe Bell + Howell, Tauck Travel, Lulu.com, Wei East, and WomanCare Global. Additionally, Alan led an annual qualitative research initiative through conversations with 100+ CMOs to identify common challenges, opportunities and best practices.

Alan earned a degree in psychology from North Carolina State University and an M.B.A. from Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
